Reviewer Guidelines and Responsibilities
Reviewing a manuscript submitted by a fellow researcher is a professional privilege, but also a serious and time-intensive responsibility. The Editorial Board, authors, and readership of CSI sincerely appreciate your willingness to undertake this role with care and integrity.
Cognitive Systems Insights (CSI) operates under a double-blind peer-review process. The journal relies on reviewers who can deliver insightful, constructive, and objective evaluations within an expected review period of approximately 6 weeks.
The continued success and scientific quality of CSI depend on reviewers who demonstrate strong subject-matter expertise, fairness, and academic rigor.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
If you are invited by the Editor-in-Chief of CSI to review a manuscript, you are expected to:
- Critically and constructively evaluate the manuscript and provide detailed comments to help authors improve their work.
- Review revised versions of the manuscript when required.
- Submit all review materials within the specified deadlines.
- Advise the editor on the manuscript’s suitability for publication.
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest related to the manuscript.
- Report any suspected research misconduct.
- Refrain from using or sharing any content from the manuscript.
- Avoid direct communication with authors and do not disclose your identity.
- Not delegate the review to another individual.
- Ensure the manuscript meets standards of originality, quality, and scientific relevance.
- Inform the editor if the manuscript appears to be under consideration elsewhere.
- Submit the review report in English only.
